About

About SeoulFoodTour

Seoul serves more food than any visitor can eat.

Every market stall claims to be famous. Every listing promises the "authentic" experience. Every queue looks like it must be worth joining. For a first-time visitor, the result isn't excitement — it's overwhelm. People arrive hungry and leave having eaten at the wrong stalls, never quite sure what they missed.

We exist for one reason: clarity.

We don't review tours. We help travelers make better decisions.

That single idea is the whole site. Anyone can list experiences and link to a checkout. What's rare — and what we built SeoulFoodTour to do — is tell you which experiences are actually worth your time and money, and why, before you book.

What Makes Our Approach Different

We don't describe tours. We explain decisions.

A description tells you a food tour visits Gwangjang Market. A decision tells you whether a private tour is worth three times the group price, which market fits the time you actually have, and when eating on your own is the smarter move. That's the difference between an OTA listing and a guide you can trust.

Our work is selection, not aggregation:

  • We research operators, inclusions, and reputations.
  • We compare each experience against the alternatives travelers are really choosing between.
  • We verify what a tour actually includes — not what its marketing claims.
  • We curate a shortlist worth booking, and leave the rest off.

Reviewed. Compared. Selected. Every experience on this site earned its place — none of it is here by default.

Meet the Founder

SeoulFoodTour is driven by Mario Dalo, an Argentine digital entrepreneur who has spent nearly two decades building honest, research-driven travel guides — cutting through tourist-trap noise so travelers don't have to.

Few destinations have more noise to cut through than a Seoul food market.

"Seoul rewards the prepared and punishes the overwhelmed. The right information turns a stressful, guesswork meal into the best eating of your life — at Gwangjang and far beyond it."Mario Dalo

Why Seoul — and What's Beyond Gwangjang

Here's the part most visitors discover too late: some of the best of Seoul isn't at Gwangjang at all. A few subway stops in almost any direction lies a different kind of eating — Namdaemun's tented alleys, Mangwon's local stalls, Euljiro's tent bars, Ikseon-dong's hanok lanes. The fame of one market makes it easy to forget that the whole city is a food city.

Helping you balance the icons with the neighborhoods — and skip the traps in between — is what this site is for.

How We Make Money (and How We Don't)

Transparency matters, so here it is plainly. SeoulFoodTour is an independent editorial site — not a restaurant, a market, a tour operator, or a booking platform, and not affiliated with any of them.

The experiences we recommend are operated by licensed third-party platforms (Viator and GetYourGuide). When you book, you're redirected to them and pay their listed price — we never add markups or fees. We earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you, and it's our only revenue.

That independence is the point: because no one can pay to appear on our lists, our recommendations answer to you, not to advertisers.

  • No paid placements — you can't buy a spot on a "Best Of" list.
  • No direct sales — bookings happen on the operator's secure platform.
  • No generic content — every guide reflects our own research and judgment.

Why Trust Us

  • 20 years in digital. SeoulFoodTour is a project of Intercoper, the studio Mario founded in 2006 — stability you can verify.
  • A transparent model. We earn only when you book, at no extra cost, and we say so openly.
  • Real independence. We support the Seoul food ecosystem by sending travelers to high-quality licensed operators — and we have no reason to recommend anything that isn't worth it.

Seoul doesn't need another ticket seller. It needs someone willing to tell you which experiences are actually worth booking.

That's the job we took.
