Both formats exist, and listings don't always make it obvious — which is why we flag it. Of our 24 classes, 8 are confirmed hands-on from their own listings (you chop, season and cook yourself); for the rest, the format isn't stated, so confirm with the host if cooking it yourself matters to you.

6 of our 24 classes are confirmed to include a guided market shopping trip before cooking — usually about an hour at a market like Mangwon or Gwangjang, learning ingredients and picking up produce for the class. It's the single biggest differentiator between classes, and we mark it in each tour's Glance table.

The staples of Korean home cooking: bibimbap, kimchi (kimchi-focused classes often make several types and send you home with a jar), savory pancakes like pajeon, japchae, bulgogi, and stews like kimchi jjigae. Many classes rotate their menu by day of the week, so what you make depends on when you book.

Classes in our catalog run $62–109 per person for roughly three hours, typically including all ingredients, instruction, the full meal you cook (often with makgeolli), and recipes to take home. Given the teaching time plus a complete meal, most travelers find them strong value — and worth booking early in the trip.
